(Taken this picture yesterday! Quality is low though...)
It holiday time! Think it's time for me to prioritize my life now among schoolwork, play, projects, family, friends.
1. Family
2. Schoolwork
3. Friends
4. Projects
5. Play
Did I make the smart decision to attend the Outward Bound camp? Although it covers all aspects of beiung a good leader and communicator, but it eats away 9 days of my holiday. Anyway I am not going to care! The course is $700 and it is fully subsidized by the school. It is a good opportunity for me to know more people and of course I want the certificate as well. =P

We had learnt about SWOT, PEST, and the additional Porter’s Five Forces Model in today‘s lesson.
As we know, PEST (Political, Economic, Sociocultural, Technological) is used to analyse the environment which should be continuous and feed with all aspects of planning. The SWOT is used to analyse the current business position and also by understanding the aspects Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats, we can uncover chances and come out with strategies that helps you compete the market.
If you were to become a T-shirt designer selling your product to the people in Singapore, we can apply the PEST analysis to guide us further into our planning if we should intrude the market. First, we should identify the most important factor of all which is the Political issues. Whether there is any laws or infringement you had come to with which prevents you from selling your product. Once we had confirmed this, we can start planning about Economic issues and the financial status of the target customers. We can approach them in their ability to spend on wants, the tax imposed by the government whether it is reasonable and profitable, and also the inflation rate of the currency. Sociocultural elements like conducting surveys on the preference of the customers, whether one material may be offensive to the target group, and the time available for the people to indulge in leisure (shopping) which relates their spending habits. Technological is the availability of machines to aid in the process of manufacturing. Neglecting this element, one may have the idea to intrude the striving market but without the ability to execute work. Thus, this is also an important criteria that we have to consider when we are doing businesses.
We can apply what we had learnt in improving one‘s academic result by reflecting and changing for the better. The SWOT can be used in this scenario whereby one can observe and identify your own Strengths and Weaknesses you have in a particular subject or module. Having to know the strengths, you can then examine and grab Opportunities to make the use out of what you believe is at your advantage. Knowing your weaknesses allows you to reflect on things you are unsure about and thus improve on these areas which prevents possible Threats from weakening your standing. It may come in forms of impressions or even questions from exam scripts.
I firmly believes that life is similar to doing businesses. Knowing the analytical jargons in business can greatly benefits one when applied in different context.

Saw me in the picture? It is my first experience of being an Emcee in a formal event. Can you imagine how nervous I am at that moment of time? Well, I am contradicting myself! Actually I felt nothing, probably due to the sufficent practices with one of the most experienced Emcee in school, Felicia Hu Yan Ling!
As you can see, of course I am the guy who is standing tall, looking down on that small pettite Felicia. (Doing our final preparation) =P
Am lucky to be offered a second chance to host yet another event. But this time, it's totally different. Had been having a lot of difficulties trying to simplify the script and yet being formal. Worse of all, the audience are the Japanese students. Thus, we have to include some Japanese conversation in. Wondering if I am up to it. I will try my very best to make this successful and a fruitful learning experience.

Sunday, November 27, 2005Finally! This old solitary blog is being revived! All thanks to the magical hands of my "Qing Ai De" and my "ex part-time girlfriend". Never to forget about one very important person who allows this to happened. Without saying, of course I know you people understand what I am trying to imply. =P
So am the first person in Singapore who blogs in a toilet? That's unique! How you guys think of my layout then? Anyone who is unhappy about it, I don't mind you doing one for me! I said that and I mean it.
Anyway, it's another day of slacking and hiding at home. Woke up at 2pm today and wasted my whole day! All I do is staying at home, chatting on MSN with friends. Engaged in a really silly conversation with Serene regarding the "Fruit Kingdom". Shall not talk more about it. It's sooo childish and I can't believe I am part of it now. -.-! Just to remind you over here, you now owes me a movie treat and a meal! Don't worry, I will be willing to comply since I am still targeting for my new Levi's jeans, Nike shoes and T-shirts.
By the way, I am just being curious. What makes people think that I am attached? Got to go through some serious thought over this. Anyone with an answer, please shoot them in the urinal. =J
Nothing much today, something more tomorrow!
